Hobbies

Interests and hobbies

The hobbies included here are reading, Ju-Jitsu, cycling, swimming, collecting stuff, anime models, web design and software programming. You can read and download some of the software I created here.
Should you want to learn about or help in developing these interests, here is a link to an amazon.co.uk wish list.
We are also working at a growing collection of quotes and jokes.

Books

We enjoy reading classic and modern literature. On this website is a brief overview of some favourite titles.

Quotations

Just in case you have not guessed it by now, we also collect famous quotations. We have collected more than 5000 great ones so far, and also developed some great software to manage them.

Values

Too often we receive emails saying how God loves us, the devil hates us and fellow humans do not give a damn about us. Busy people like ourselves, usually quickly delete most of these, however, every now and then, we do come across a story or message which actually makes us think and reconsider things. Those which we like best, we share and have placed here for your perusal. We hope you find them equally enlightening.

Nostalgia

Most of the members on this network remember the origins of the personal computer in Malta. The BBC Micro, ZX Spectrum, C64, Amiga, Atari, IBM compatibles, the Amstrad and so forth, to today's PCs, doing 100 times the work at 1000 times the speed for 1/2 the price. This page was set up for those who wish to remember about the good old days when computer games were valued for their playability and not by the number of concurrent polygons placed on screen.

If you wish to learn where you fit within this timescale, or are interested in what gave rise to the variety of products available today or simply have a related school project to carry out, we compiled a brief history of computers as a reference

Miniatures (Selection)

A selection of fantasy war gaming miniatures. Mainly Citadel and Mithril miniatures, but there are also some great Masquerade and Raven miniatures. We have plenty more, but will not place any photos online till they are painted. For beginners, we also have prepared a painting guide.

Anime Models

Back in the days when we still had no colour television, boys watched popular cartoons mostly involving gigantic robots included Megaloman, Mazinga, Goldrake, Gundam, Gig Robo, Daitan. Lately we've seen a new Mazinga series, Cybertech and Evangelion. Some of us are less fond of the newer material, and for nostalgic reasons, started collecting models of the older robots.

Music

By the way we like listening to good music too. We have included a list of songs and albums, together with a collection of midi files here. There is also a Maltese music section, which should be of general interest. If you are a fan of a specific local group, you might be disappointed. Still, you might learn about other forms of music or local bands. We do not prefer any one type of music, or fancy any specific artist. Obviously there are some artists or groups which tend to produce more of the songs we like than others.
